HABC to Hold First Targeted Vaccination Event for Seniors

Housing authority staff has gone door-to-door at Cherry Hill Homes to encourage all eligible seniors take advantage of Tuesday’s opportunity

BALTIMORE The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) will conduct its first targeted event to vaccinate all residents 65 and over living at Cherry Hill Homes. Information was distributed to eligible households last week with a phone number to make an appointment for the Friday clinic. On Tuesday, February 16, HABC staff members went door-to-door to help make appointments for those who had not already signed up.

Residents will sign in at Cherry Hill’s community center, then be escorted to a mobile clinic parked outside, operated by MedStar Health. They will then return to the community center to wait for the required 15-minute post vaccination observation. Finally, they will be given an appointment for their second dose.

“We’re responding to our most vulnerable residents at their locations, said HABC President and CEO Janet Abrahams.” “We know that some of them are unlikely to use online platforms to register for the vaccine and often do not have the transportation to get to the resources where testing or vaccines are given. We are grateful to have the support of the city health department and MedStar, and we’ll continue to work with them and other partners in the hope of bringing this kind of vaccination program to other properties.”
