(BALTIMORE– June 17. 2019) – The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) dedicated its new Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program OneStop self-service kiosks today. The new resident portal called MyHousing, will allow residents and families to quickly complete their housing recertification process and help them in their search for a different home if they want to move.

The recertification process involves documenting household income and family make-up to ensure that participants remain eligible and the level of housing assistance they require.

Instead of scheduling an appointment with a housing staff member, HCV participants can use the kiosks any time during business hours. The Housing Authority is also beginning online recertification for selected households as a test. The longer-term plan is to make online recertification available to all HCV participants.

“I believe these improvements will dramatically simplify our residents’ experience by providing more flexible and responsive customer service here in our offices and from the comfort of their homes,” said HABC Executive Director Janet Abrahams, as she cut the ribbon on the renovated waiting and kiosk area.

HABC staff will be stationed near the kiosks to help residents who need assistance.

“We anticipate that as we move forward more and more families will handle  their recertification from their phone,” Abrahams said. “This system is just one of many initiatives we are undertaking that are streamlining our operations, both in the voucher program and in public housing.”
